Silent Church

2021 (United Kingdom)

The Gothic chapel was built in 1887 with the purpose of serving the deaf community. It is now a Grade II listed building, although in a terrible state. The pigeons now rule this place.

The design is very interesting, with the main part of the chapel being a raised central round room on the first floor, with the rest of the rooms in the building underneath and to the sides. Above is a grand ceiling creating a great sense of space. The disrepair is more to do with a lack of love rather than vandalism, which is perhaps surprising given the troubled history of the area this chapel is located.
