Khaki Textile Mill

2021 (United Kingdom)

We had to tread extremely carefully in this textile mill, as the floorboards looked and felt like they could give way at any moment. Whilst the site is very large, the machinery up at the top floor was the goal & also high enough to make us very nervous about falling through. It felt surprising that the machinery was still there and in such good condition - but I don't think many people would be keen on venturing that far into the building.

This place was a great was to start a short UK tour & it was a firm reminder of how important & influential the UK industrial revolution was. The opening of the facilities dates back to the 18th century and this place in particular was responsible for the khaki dye the British soldiers wear.
