Rittergut V

Also known as the Blue Castle, we visited this former manor house on the final day of an amazing road tour across middle Germany. Rittergut roughly means the manor of the nobility & this new manor was built on the burnt down location of such a site - in 2018 it nearly burnt down itself. You can see the effects of this in some of the photos - the top levels are black. It also served as a home to the owner of a nearby porcelain factory. There are some glorious rooms still intact & the standout is the double width staircase with a hunters stain glass window and a huge blue motif ceiling. Sadly the middle stain glass window has since been stolen, so I'm glad to have documented it prior to that. This place is set back in some woods off a lonely road & it all added to an amazing atmosphere.
