Hajmáskér Village

Hajmáskér sits approximately 100km West of Budapest, so it took an early train journey to make it here! The village was home to a military barracks and artillery school (further pictures on another page) but the village also had many other facilities such as a riding school and a water tower. These photos are of the whole area surrounding the main barracks & a couple of exteriors of the that building with its impressive tower. It's a quiet & friendly little place but rather spooky on the whole. It's played host to the Hungarian army & then as a result of the war, both the Nazi's and finally the Soviets. The troops moved out in 1990 leaving the village full of abandoned buildings.
